New multi tank project to create a new display tank.

Less than a year ago I got a 30 gal and started learning. Soon I found the 30 too full and got a 20 to split it up. A few months later I decided I wanted one tank instead of two, so I got a JBJ 65 and merged them. Used the 20 and 30 to attempt a planter with them. That did not go well. So now I opted for larger fish as centerpiece, but have tetras and shrimp that would be food to anything larger. Now I am restarting the 20 and 30 for the little ones and redoing the 65 for larger centerpiece and display. I am about a week into it in earnest. The 65 is almost empty. Here is some images of the 30 and 20 and what the 65 started as. Will add inventory lists for each image throughout today and start keeping updates to share. I am really excited at this new project and feeling I may finally be able to stop growing this habit. (Lol. Like that actually happens once it starts.)
Original 65. With everything. Hydros with CO2 injection.

Here is the new 20. Livestock is Mystery snails all males, ghost and ammano shrimp, platies, and amber tetras.
Here is the new 30. Livestock is harlequins green neon tetras, female mysteries, and all the orange rillis.
The 65is still under construction. And still picking out all the little rillis. There will also be a clown pleco going to the 20.

Oh wow, my friend! Nice! Tinted tanks get me every time although most remove the tannins thinking it looks gross (as humans, we have a tendency to think crystal clear water is clean when in fact, it's often quite the opposite). Will you be keeping the tint? The fish enjoy it and it looks like a natural river or stream. I really like that look :D

Have you ever thought of bridging the 20 and 30?

I've always wanted to try this.

The big wood is never ending tannin color. The 65 has had that soaking for months now so it will take a bit to fade. The new wood for that will be lighter and less tall for the fish to have more open. New tank plan is Angels, rainbows, and cory cats. I am seeing mixed opinions on Angels nipping mystery tentacles. They are long and beautiful now and I do not want them harassed so the are moving too. I have some Goldens that mated with an azure and now have almost tye dye orange azure shells. Primary orange with azure tints and the darker foot.

Not until now.... I do like that. I would need a bit more space to raise the stand on the 20 to be level this is already taking a lot of real estate in a 2 bd apartment. I am thinking whale canister with CO2 and another hydros to run both the smaller too. So far it is just hobs and liquid CO2 supplement to start.

Here is the current update. Attached is the redone 65. It has a few female mysteries, new are green cory cats and neon rainbows. Still looking for the angels. Being picky for those to be just right.
Final 20 with ghosts, amannos, platies, and ember tetras with male mysteries.
Final 30 with harlequins, green neon tetras, female mysteries and orange Sunkist shrimp. The 20 and 30 will be set up on a whale cannister running both with co2 and in line UV next week running off a hydros x3. Will be adding bla k backgrounds to both smaller tanks.

Wow! Beautiful builds! I’m still a plastic plants newbie but would love to create something like that, when I have enough space and time.

Update on the continuing project. First attempt to use the cannister and plumbing did not go well. Started to worry about overflow too. Rearranged furniture in two rooms to get a level base, built a 2 inch riser platform, and bought a bridge to handle that. The 20 and 30 are now set and the bridge installed. I am thinking it turned out pretty well. A few airbubbles installing it. Shrimp are already exploring it too.
Now to move the pictures and redo the plumbing above them. Cannister fits nice in the back corner out of sight.
And the platies like it too!
