New molly fry mom

This is my first time with molly fry. Or any fry. I have 4....2wks old...swimming happily in a 7x5x5 breeder net hanging in a 36g cycled tank with: 2 dalmatian mollies, 3 platy, 4 skirt tetra, a 5" pleco and 2 ghost shrimp.

How long can they stay like this?

I also have a fairly new 10g with a bumblebee catfish, new in quarantine 1w now.

The next step in my plan is to move the fry to the 10g with Bumble. What would be a good timing for this move based on 36g overstock and bumble in quarantine. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

 

Release the fry into the main tank when they are bigger than all of the fishes' mouths (except the pleco, it won't bother the fry).
If I am understanding you correctly, you want to know if you can move the fry and the bumblebee catfish into the 36g at the same time? You should be fine to add them both at the same time.

Thanks for your response...but no. I was thinking of moving the molly fry into the 10g with the bumblebee catfish. he has another 3 weeks of quarantine if I'm doing a one month quarantine.

I would not move the fry to the quarantine. It could expose the sensitive fry to diseases that the bumble bee catfish might have, plus I'm not entirely sure it wouldn't eat the fry. Leave the fry in the breeder box for another 2 weeks. It might be a little cramped, but it's better than diseased or eaten fry.

 

Looks like my 4 fry are now 3. they are 3.5 weeks old now and still in breeder net. In the 2 hours between after work and dinner feeding, I guess one jumped the net. He's either a really great hider or became a late afternoon snack for someone. Quel domage
