Who can resist a kitten or a puppy? I know I can't .Hence I have had a assortment over the many years. I am now down to a chichwawa, chiweeny, a 7 year old kitty. 3 fish tanks and three small parrots. and enough is enough. Hubby and I love our pets. They keep us busy and entertained Alison

Adorable!! I love the spots. He looks like he could be part serval?

I have a lab puppy terrorizing the house now. My cats are in semI permanent hiding, so I rarely get snuggles unless he (the dog) is out on a walk. Definitely miss the kitty cuddles.

Depending on where you are located most kittens are supposed to be 8 weeks old!! Keep a close eye on it... Might need some extra supplemental feedings!! As for your baby sister.. honestly kittens are tough... It will be fine!! edit to add.. I apologise! I did not realize it was quite that tiny! Yes your baby sister will need to be watched!

That's actually quite young to be removed from its mother.
I would be extremely gentle with a kitten this small, someone or something can injure it without meaning to, which you don't want.
I speak from a puppy experience, but I haven't had a cat before.

6 weeks!? Holy smokes that's young. I got one if mine that young (mother was feral) and I still had to give her milk as well as food. Really, kittens should be 3 months old before they're taken, one because they are still fragile. They may rough house with each other but rough housing with a toddler can easy snap their neck. Honesty, keep a VERY close eye on it that it's gaining weight and they it doesn't get hurt.

That's way too small. Poor kitty. Kittens aren't supposed to be sold or taken from the mother until they are 8 weeks old, just like smalltownfishfriend said. I have done quite a bit of fostering for little abandoned kittens. I'm guessing because of how small they are that they weren't weened off of the mother. You'll most likely need to get them some Kitten Milk Replacement to make sure they get the nutrients they need. This is super important. Without the proper nutrients, their little body won't do well. Also, make sure to keep them warm. Younger kittens don't have the ability to keep themselves warm, that's why they all huddle against the mother cat so they don't freeze. If you look up how to foster a kitten, there's a lot of information out there.

That kitten doesn't actually look too young. I would keep a close eye on it though. Being unsure of the age, mix in some wet food with the dry food so that it's not too hard on the teeth.

At one point we had like 15 cats at the school we run and we would give the kittens away once they could eat solid food and they are all fine that I know of

If they're without their mother, I see no issue with finding them a home. If someone's cat had kittens and they just didn't want them, that's where it's no good. It's easy to get a cat spayed and a lot of vet centers can point people in the right direction to groups that do cheap/free spays/neuters. The kittens that I've fostered have all been around 2 1/2 - 4 weeks when I got them. Not all kittens can be raised by their mother. ):

I took in a kitten from my friend who found her abandoned by her mother outside their house. She was about 5 weeks when I took her. My friend had for almost a week before I took her, and they were bottle feeding her and using a damp cloth to get her to go to the bathroom. When I took her in, I made sure she was able to eat solids, which she was. I did the same thing and kept her in my dog’s old crate while I was out or asleep. Stella is almost 2 and as sassy as ever.

My little two cents. Kitten that young needs a lot of what mom would’ve provided. Warmth, cleaning, especially the eyes and nose with a warm damp super soft cloth, loving, playing, fighting. All the things mom would do. And no toddlers without the understanding of gentle. Not only can the kitten be hurt but so could the toddler. Young children like to put things close to their faces. Inviting sharp baby claws. Be careful. If you can get some cat mothers milk or goats milk, excellent source of liquid protein and necessary fats. It’s in the transition phase of going from liquid to solid food digestion. Good luck, sounds cute as only a kitten can be.
