on half a whI'm I went yesterday afternoon and got a kitten. ;D
introducing Dusty!
he is 8 weeks old. with his fluffy black fur he seems to be constantly covered in dust from crawling into every nook and cranny he can find. lol. the other two cats are getting used to him. toby just ignores him, which is unfortunate as I was hoping she would mother him as she mothered sam..she might come around still. sam follows him everywhere full of curiosity.

some pics:
took these last night. he likes to sit on my desk at my fish tank and try to catch the fish through the glass.

noticing the betta (Arwyn) behind him

and this morning, a few minutes ago. after some serious play time he is fast asleep

He is SO handsome!!!!!!! Oh, I want another cat too.... I have 4 already so I don't guess I should but you know what is said about cats - once you get one, it's hard to stop! I have a crazy cat too - only lets me pet her when SHE wants me to.

Where did you get Dusty?

We had a stray show up in our garage where I feed a few cats. She was just a kitten herself, but it soon became apparent that she would soon be a mom. Her name is Miss Mouse because she squeaks when she talks. Today, the day after Mothers' Day, she had 4 beautiful kittens. I have moved them into a spare room so I can keep an eye on them and take them for "fixing" and adoption when it's time.

We live in the country and have so many strays because people do not spay and neuter their pets.

I took a couple of pictures this morning soon after they were born.

I love cats and kittens. Sad no one takes the responsibility there (but you) to fix them. Wish I lived closer.... I can never say no to adopting cats.

I love orange tabbies (and whites)! So adorable! Those are going to be some beautiful kitties when they grow up. Miss Mouse is pretty good-looking herself. Good for you for giving them at least a temporary home and getting them fixed.

Too bad we can't ship kittens like we do fish. I'd even pay the shipping!

Oh how sweet!
It's really nice of you to take care of them.
We just got a male stray fixed, not cheap but worth it, imo.

You're right, Lucy. For every male or female that gets fixed, many kittens will be spared suffering and early death. Luckily we have an organization that we support every month that will take the kittens, fix them, and adopt them out. They will also take the adults, fix them, and find homes for them. An interesting point, it's really cheap and perfectly safe to have a kitten fixed.

Kitties! X3 I'm so glad that someone is being responsible >.< Maybe you should make fliers that are full of info about the lives of out-side and stray cats, and put them up around where you live, or in peoples mail boxes...

Not sure about in your area, but here, we take our dogs to the humane society, and they get their shots for $15, and it we needed to, they could be fixed for $45 (its cheaper for cats though). MUCH cheaper then the vet. Definatly look in that, and look around at the vets around you. Theres a vet about an hour from me that will fix your pet for $10 if you can show proof of low in-come, so I'm sure there's other places that will do something simular. Also, talk to someone, where ever you go, and explain to them what's going on. I bet you could work something out

When the kittens are weaned, the organization that we support will take them, fix them, and find them homes. (the mom too) Many people have very different attitudes about animals here than I do. I'm maxed out on cats right now so me keeping them is not an option.

That's good that you don't have to pay, though getting cats, especially un-fixed ones, off the streets is worth paying for >.<

You're right about that. Actually we do pay--it's the installment plan. We pay (donate) every month, so I guess you could say we are paying in advance.

lol If I had the money, I'd donate to the local humane society, but honestly, I walk their 24+ dogs twice a week, so that seems like enough to make me not feel bad about not donating XD

In my opinion, your time is way more valuable than my money. Loved your video in the other thread.

awww so cute we had a similar situation several years ago. my grandfather lived in the country (now my parents live there), and he had outside cats. but he didn't want to bother to get them fixed.....so to control the population, he would find the litters, and drown the kittens

when he passed away, my parents moved up there, and were faced with like, I dunno, 40 kittens. so we slowly adopted a lot of them out, gave some to the humane society, and of course kept plenty for ourselves lol. they then fixed the adults, so no more kittens.

but I miss seeing those tiny little fur balls <3 I hope they get good homes

Yeah, but with out your money, little creatures would go with out food and water and vet care, and the building wouldnt get payed for, or the bills. So in a way, they are equally important

That's right. We both have something vital to contribute.

I just got a new kitten from a house that was owned by hoarder. Her mother was at least 9 months old and super skinny and all the others were skinny and we caught 3 kittens 3 adult cats and there are still 3 adults and a litter of kittens that we couldn't reach but the rest we took to the shelter. One of the three kittens was under the house so me and my mom had to bust him out! We kept him even though its illegal We just couldn't help it
