Good afternoon everyone, my name is Alexander and I and not only new here but fairly new to the world of aquariums as well. Although I have had fish tanks around me my whole life I never really understood them and my family (in hindsight) never took care of them how they should have. I plan to do my research and give my fish the best lives that they can possibly have.
I recently started small after "adopting" my GFs betta fish that she had in a 1 gal Top Fin tank, I upgraded him multiple time and he is now sitting pretty in a 3.5 gal (top fin brand, but I don't remember the model, It is longer than it is tall). I had him in a 5 gal Top Fin Revival (taller than it is wide), but he didn't seem to enjoy it as much (I think it was partially due to the higher water flow and less horizontal movement he could do).
As far as my fish, his name is Swim Shady and is a "walmart rescue" as my gf says. I guess he was one of the last living at the time she got him, he spent his first 6 months or so in her college dorm and then got moved to my house for summer and has been here since (going on 1.5-2 years now).
I also have other tanks that I would eventually like to setup. I have two empty 20 gals, a 120 gal, and some others. I love fish (wild and aquarium) and once I go back to college (whenever covid slows up) I will be furthering my wildlife management degree and will probably end up in a fisheries program as well.
I love forums and all of the valuable information that they offer. I am glad to be a part of this forum, grow,, learn, and maybe even pass on my knowledge. Thank you all and I cant wait to become a member of this community!
