I was at Petco yesterday getting more frozen brine shrimp, and of course I had to look at the Bettas. When I came across this humongous Halfmoon king male. I’ve seen a couple before and thought they were super cool because of there size. But this guy was absolutely stunning. He was too big to even turn around in his poor tiny cup. I went back for him today because I could not stop thinking about him. A beauty like him deserves much better care. I don’t know a whole lot about the care of the king Bettas so if anyone has any tips and tricks or anything I would really appreciate it. I have him in a 2.5 gallon quarantine tank but I’d like to get him something a bit bigger. Also if anyone has name suggestions, all my Bettas are Disney themed and I’d like to find the perfect name for this boy and give him the best care I can. Thanks!

I’d personally go for a minimum of a 10 gallon, but I have seen kings explore entire 20 longs as well. They like the same decor and parameters and such as a typical betta, but are a bit more active. Mine eats about 2x to 3x what a normal betta does.

Thank you! I was wondering how much I should be feeding him in comparison. And I planned on getting him at least a 10 gallon.

10 to 15 gallons should be good for these giant Bettas. For a king Betta, you can go with a Lion King theme. Stack up some rocks to look like pride rock and some live plants should set it off.
