New grapevine driftwood

what is the best way to cure this big piece of driftwood. I have never cured a piece of driftwood before putting it in my tank.

I have a large piece of Malaysian driftwood in my 55 gallon tank and wanted to add decor to the upper portions of the tank for angels and gourami.

I didn't do anything to the Malaysian driftwood and it ended up killing most of my fish before it cured inside the tank.

I don't want to make the same mistake twice. I do not have a pot big enough to boil it so I cannot boil the wood.
what other ways is there to cure grapevine. I do have a sink that will hold half of it laying down and I can flip it over to get the other half.

How long will each process take
and how will I know it's done and safe to put into my aquarium

I'm not sure what you mean by 'curing' the wood. Did you get it in from nature?

Grapewood takes a long time to sink and some say not to use it, as it rots faster than other types of driftwoods.

Did you buy it from a store or did you get it from outside?

If you got it from outside "nature" make sure it is completely dry. If it isn't completely dry in the center, just leave it outside in the sun for a couple weeks/months.

If you got it from a pet store, either soak it in hot water or boil some water but be very careful as you pour it onto the wood. If you are a minor, please have parental supervision while pouring hot boiling water or have your parents do it.

If you want to get rid of tannins, you'll have to boil or soak. Otherwise, it should be safe.

if I put it in my sink with boiling water for a few hours, should that get all of the tannins out?

I think so. It depends on the individual piece of wood, but grapevine is said to not have a lot of tannins, much less than Malaysian.
