I try to keep my eyes open on places like craigslist, eBay, and even Facebook buy and sell sights. You never know what you may come across.

Both the FX4's are up and running now along with a 1/4hp chiller unit, since this house has issues with where the a/c vents are located.

Looks great! Loved how the substrate turned out.

It's just BDBS, I dumped about 5 bucket fulls in and spread it out with the dust pan I bought for messing with substrate. I don't worry about it being perfectly level or any of that mess, because in the 30 plus years of diving I've never seen a perfectly level bottom.

Yesterday I picked up an additional 12 Bloodfin Tetras to give me a total of 24, and 3 more BosemanI Rainbowfish to bring them up to eight. In bound this week about 5 pieces of driftwood, a few more plants, and some fish. I have YoYo and Zebra Loaches, a few Albino and Pepper Cories. They won't be all going into the 150, but split between it and the 100 gallon.

Very impressive and I bet even more so in person, it's kinda hard to guage the scale of it from the photos. Love the Bosemanis too!

Following to see how it progresses

For the KiwI the tank is actually 150 x 60 x 60 cm in size, the piece of drift wood that vertical along the back glass is about 45 cm long and so is the Amazon Sword in the center. BTW years ago I was on the North Island of NZ on a Rugby tour enjoyed my time over there.

Wow, who needs a tv!

Glad you enjoyed it, there are some really pretty spots up there. Do you follow sport quite a bit? I follow Rugby to an extent, but just the all black's games.

I watch the All Blacks every chance I get, as well as the Wallabies.

It's like Christmas Day here at the house, 2 Fedex deliveries, and I'm waiting on UPS to show up they should have about 3 boxes for me. The fish and plants came in about 20 minutes ago, out of all the fish, it looks like I may have lost one YoYo loach in shipping, that still leaves me with 5. I'll be able to pick up a couple more next week around town. The Zebra Loaches look nice and healthy as well as the Cories both Albino and Pepper. The plants also look in good shape too.if UPS would get here so I can see what the driftwood is like so I can start planing the rest of the layout in both the 150 and 100 I'd be happy.

I got the driftwood in finally and the plants in the tank. It's starting to come around to where I want it. The Val's need some trimming but they should be fine once they adjust to the tank. The Zebra Loaches are happy campers too.

I did add another light, a single Beamswork DA FSPEC didn't seem to really light up the tank so I added another Beamswork DA light. Made a world of difference.

So There was an issue with one of the pieces of drift wood the way I set it up vertically. It didn't want to stay upright. I did find another piece at the store today to give me the look I wanted. 2 of the zebra Loaches decided to see if they could fly last night too, I found them on the floor this morning. So one of todays projects was to fit the e.g. Crate to the openings. The 100 gallon is starting to look better too as some of the driftwood has gone into it.

How's the tank doing Max?

Dawn Michele it's going good, I may have a small diatom outbreak. Once some of these new plants really get established I may give it a few days of lights out to see if it clears up some.

Glad things are going well. Diatoms are yucky!!! Hope they go away soon.

Thanks I have some more plants coming in for all the tanks. I only lost 2 fish in the big tank, a pair of Zebra Loaches thought they could fly the first night. I hadn't had time that day to cut the egg crate covers. Other then them everybody is doing well.

I read you lost 2 because they didn't know how to land. How did they get out?

The first night I didn't have any type of hoods on the tank. It was actually getting pretty late by the time I setup the plants and driftwood that I had gotten in that day. One almost made a bucket of tank water I had on the ground that I was using to hold the plants. The only problem with the tank is I have to use a stool for somethings and others I have to use a ladder. The top rI'm is 5' off the ground, although I do recommend a tank that has a 24" width. Those extra 6" over your 18" on the 125 make a giant difference. I can put large items in the tank without them appearing to overwhelm the tank. I have several big pieces of driftwood and the add dimension and depth while still allowing swimming area for the fish.

Your 125 is up higher than mine. Yours is eye level and mine isn't. Your decor looks great. IM redoing Big Boys again. I don't know why because he is just going to rearrange it. LOL.

The stand is 36" tall and the tank is 24" tall. I sure was fun lifting the buckets of sand up to dump them. Dawn Michele that's why I rinse the sand early and let it drain some in the cooler. I do need to add just a little more, but there's enough left over to redo the 55 gallon tank here in a week or two.

That I still need to figure out, it's been my overflow/orphan tank right now. The 10 Neon's will go into the 100 gallon tank, the swordtails may go to the local fish store. It does have a couple of Zebra Danio's and Harlequins Rasboras in it, those guys are going on 5 years old now. Because the 55 is the only tank I don't have a chiller on I may do some Cardnial tetras, maybe a couple of Angel fish, and some warm water cories.

No comets, maybe for the pond when I dig it in Texas. The plans for that will be bass, crappie, and blue gill.

How are the lights doing? My 2 x 72" aquaneats have already burned up two power supplies, I ended up building my own that I imagine are better quality.

I though upgrading my 60gal to 125gal purchased with huge discount at LFS would be plenty for long time.

After few months I wish I invested bit more and got taller 200gal which would fit same place in the room.

It's never enough... as soon as you switch to larger tank and everyone goes well... you start thinking why have not I went for even larger one?

Here's one of the things with going taller on tanks, it really doesn't buy you that much more fish keeping ability due to the same amount of surface area exposed for O2 exchange. Plus added height increases the lighting costs if you're going to grow live plants, water happens to be a great light filter. Now if the 200 gallon was a 72"x24" footprint that will gain you some extra fish keeping ability.

I respectfully disagree.

Taller tank does buy a lot when you keep large fish like angels or discus which has significant body vertical span.

Lightning is not affected if water is pristine clear. Most LED fixtures event basic ones are oversized in lumens for the tanks trey are sold with. I guess makers account for mostly slightly muddy water where more light is needed.

Lastly, 26-30 in tall tank has much higher decorative and wow factor vs. 22, there is just no compare. I had both and I see and hear difference every time friends visit us.

I will agree with the larger bodied fish and giving them more vertical room. My tank is 24" tall and between that and 24" width it gives a lot of room for decorating.

It's been awhile since I posted any updates. The 150 is going good dealing with a diatom bloom from the look of it. But my Amazon sword had gained about 3-4 inches since it been in the tank the rest of the plants have been growing like weeds. Plenty of happy fish with all the room they have.
IMG_1442.JPG

The 100 gallon is looking great as always it had a little scape change to it and it's plants are doing great.
IMG_1443.JPG

I rescaped the 55 gallon tank this last week and I'm actually liking it more now. The pea gravel is gone and the BDBS is in as well as more plants one day I will figure out exactly what I want to do with this tank. It's an overflow/quarantine type setup ore then anything.

Gypsy13 any thoughts.
