I got the back glass and rims painted on the tank today. It's not the absolute best paint job I've done, but I was fighting the wind a little.

Thanks Nebulous it should look great in the living room, I'll have a 100 gallon on one wall and a 180 on the other wall. I'll be splitting the stock that I have and adding to both big tanks. What will suck is if I move to Texas next year and have to break them down for that move.

Yeah, moving those behemoths is gonna suck. I moved to this place 3 years ago and I don't plan on moving again. Funny part is I fell and broke my hip in a manhole cover while I was moving here, lol! Got my 40gal in the diningroom and the 75gal here in the livingroom. I don't think my renter's insurance is going to cover more unless, of course, I pay more.

55 gallon is my small tank. The 180 weighs more then I do empty.

How far are you from North Fort Meyers? My oldest son live there and he's a BIG guy that can handle a job like that. He can probably help load your gear, but then you're on your own once in Texas.

North Ft Meyers is about 9.5-10 hr drive depending on traffic and fuel stops. My parents use to live in Punta Gorda, so I'm familiar with the area. The fastest I made it to Punta Gorda was just after Hurricane Charlie came thru the area. I kept the old F-150 around 95 the whole way, that was an 8.5 hr trip.

Wow, didn't know it was THAT far! I've only been to Florida once. Wanted to check it out for a vacation. I don't fly so I drove. Almost 2 days with stops @ Motels. I don't know how ppl live there it's so humid. I hated it and wasted a week's worth of vacation time. I haven't been there since.

Mad kudos to you for living there.

You get use to the heat and humidity with time, I only have use for cold weather for hunting. That snow and salt on the roads would kill my cars.

Yeah, the downside of living in the northeast. I try my best to undercoat my cars so they don't rust too fast, lol.

Quick update this weekend I got as much of the hard water staining off the glass as I could. I did get another 50 lbs of BDBS rinsed, I'm keeping 50lbs unrinsed right now. Hopefully 250lbs will give me enough coverage for the substrate. Now the good news my old squadron buddy called me that the stand modifications are done, so tomorrow morning we will be loading it up in his truck and bringing back to the house. Hopefully the weather co-operates and I get the extension sanded, stained, and clear coated. Right now I'm on schedule to start transferring some fish over by the end of the week. Since I did a black back glass and black substrate I'm thinking that the BosemanI Rainbowfish and the Albino Cories will look good. The tetras are between Neon's in the 55 and Bloodfin in the 100 gallon. The fun really starts when the monster is on the stand and filled.

All that extra weight with the undercoat would slow the Mustang down. My F-150 is 22 yrs old, I had some Canadian Oilfield workers try and buy it from me because the body shows no rust at all.

I got the stand back today, it looks great. My buddy did a good job of matching the style of the original.

I got the extension stained up and had to add another mod, somehow I never realized that this tank was a 60" tank so I'm back to a 150. But it does give me about 6" each side of the tank for a shelf. I'll figure out a mount for the light in a day or two since it's a 72" model. Maybe a wood riser with some support arms so the light can be centered over the tank about 4" above it. I'll get some more picture's when I wipe off the stain here soon. The biggest fear being the new wood doesn't take the stain like the 20 some odd year old wood did.

The stain got done, not perfect match but it's real close. Now this stand can take a tank from 60x18" to 72x24"

Lovely! One coat or two? Will tell me about how dark. Much more mellow than black walnut! Pine?

It's one of the darkest stains they have. It's about 2 shades lighter then the black stain they have.

I bet it’s so pretty! Know you can’t wait to get that tank started! Good luck! Not that you need it. Going to be spectacular!

Thanks, if the neighbors get home early enough the tank and stand will be up. It was only one coat of stain. I'm waiting for the guys to get home.

The good news is my neighbors got home before it got to late. We got the tank on the stand. I got several inches of substrate in filled and one FX4 hooked up. The other FX4 comes over with some of the stock from my 100 gallon tank.

Its' not done yet as far as the plants and drift wood goes. I'll be starting to bring the stock I want over and the cycled filter tonight.

The cycled FX4 went on this afternoon as well as the school of Albino Cories, BosemanI Rainbowfish, some of the Bloodfin Tetras, and some of the Cherry Barbs. I'll be working on getting the rest of the Bloodfins either tomorrow or early next week, I got lucky the LFS was putting in an order today.

I do need to order some more driftwood to finish it up, and replace a piece I took from another tank.

I'll be picking up 12 more Bloodfin Tetras in the morning and maybe the 3 Albino Cories to finish up those 2 schools. It's a matter of seeing what the LFS has. In the big picture the filter was cycled on my !00 gallon tank which had a much heavier bio-load then what is going into the tank at the present time. So I could also round out the BosemanI Rainbowfish school at the goal I have for 8, if they have 3 available.

Looking good and great read. Man. I’ve spent $250 on my 20g. Makes me feel like I’ve done it wrong!
