hi im new here and i am starting a third tank of a fluval mega flex. i have 2 other ten gallons so i have some experience in the hobby. i also grow live plants so and plant ideas and fish ideas. i was thinking 1 electric blue acara or a pair(2) of angels. a school of cardinals and maybe a chameleon whiptail catfish or 2, or normal whiptails, or banjo catfish. and hopefully a more exotic pleco even if it grows large i could keep it for a while. i already have bn plecos i will send pictures later

Hello and welcome !
im not Familiar with the fluval mega flex ? What size tank is that?

i keep angelfish so my thoughts on them are a pair is fine if they are same sex. If they start to breed the rest of the tank will feel it.
Also cardinals are dicey with Angels or the EBA as they are potential food down the line. My one pair of breeding angels tolerate nothing in their tank, the other pair so far are ok with the clown plecos, but others had to g…they are in a bigger tank as well.

depending on size of tank I’d have other ideas, I love the whiptails and the banjo catfish. There is also a red lizard whiptail that is neat looking if not natural.

Not sure what plants ypu have done before but Cardinal plants are one of my fav if you have not tried.

GL !

post some pics !

thanks, the mega flex is 32.5 gallons. would i be able to do a royal pleco for a while?. also would something bigger like a white or black skirt tetra be better with the EBAs

I have 2 pairs of angels that share tanks with assorted nano fish, and there doesn't seem to be much aggression. Provided I have lots of live plants, so line of sight is not very far. Additionally, I love my Blue Acaras, I find that they do not co-exist with nano fish very well. Another idea that would look cool in that 32.5 is a small group of Banded Kuhli Loaches would be great to see out swimming around!

Some of the medium sized rainbowfish might be cool. Kali Tawa is the hottest new rainbowfish. Parva and Kamaka also don’t get too big and are bold fish. I also think mature male Ruby Barbs are beautiful.

i know others really like rainbow fish but they dont really strike me as nice, just with the hump on their head.

You could go for a Black Ghost Knife Fish. They are awesome, grow up to 20 inches I believe.(Needs 100 gallons at full length....) Maybe Pea puffers? And a colorful group of community fish if you can balance the pea puffers aggression. Bichir but I'm not sure you'll be able to put smaller fish in with those once they grow.

I love this tank I was going to buy one last week but I couldn’t find a stand anywhere! I think angel fish need a taller tank than that. I was at the LFS the other day and one of the guys there has that tank and was showing me pictures. He has cardinals or neons I can’t remember which one and his centerpiece fish was a pair of Apistogramma macmasteri red-gold variant. I have not had them, but he said that he has other cichlids and comparatively speaking they are very calm and not aggressive. It was super pretty tank lots of plants. You could look for a smaller pleco like a L134, L133, L101 they shouldn’t outgrow that tank.
