I've just got these fish from the shop a few weeks ago. Having done some research over its growing belly, could they both be pregnant?

Hmm, now to work out how to post a photo

What kind of fish are they? If live-bearers then yes, quite probably.

Red yes, it's a female, yellow is a male. What size tank?

Yes, only the red one I'm concerned about.

It's an 85 litre tank with 8 platies and 6 mollies

Ah ok, just so you know your tank is really overstocked, which is understandable with all the livebearers. But mollies should only be kept in a 30+, I suggest posting a thread on stocking if you get a chance. Beautiful platy by the way.:)

Really? I that is so frustrating. The 'expert' at the shop said up to 18. So I went for 14. Argh!
    Thank you for the info

Yeah, never take advice from them... They are evil! Just kidding, most of the time they want your wallet and really don't know what they are saying. Unfortunately you have to do the research and can't trust them which is frustrating. Not to say there aren't some really reliable people at some of these shops, they are just rare, like diamonds...

How many do you think I should have?

I'm bad at stocking(Im slowly getting better thankfully) but I'd say 6 platies in there, but if you where to restock there's quite a few other possibilities with other fish. TexasDomer should be able to help as well.:)

Agreed, 6 male platies would be fine in that tank, but I wouldn't keep mollies in there, or more than 6 male platies (males because females will have babies and overstock the tank)
