Hello,
My tank finished fishless cycling last week by being able to process 3 ppm of ammonia withing 24 hours to 0 ammonia 0 nitrites. Photo of my tank before fish were added -
I added 10 glowlight tetras, 2 nerite snails and 5 amano shrimp on 7/26. Initially the shrimp were all over place eating algae and the glowlight tetras were hiding. Some of the tetras did eat a little (Fluval Bug Bites Tropical Fish) on the first day. Now my questions -
1. The shrimp have now found a couple of crevices that they hide in almost all day. I can sometimes spot one rummaging outside but the rest hide all day. Is this normal?
2. The tetras have divided themselves into two schools of five each. One is active in the more open section of the tank. The other spends almost all day swimming up and down against the side glass on the more planted side. When offered food they will all eat whatever sinking food they can catch. Then the more active group rummages through the gravel picking up scraps. The glass surfing group resumes glass surfing. Is this normal? Are the fish stressed or do they need some more time to relax in the tank?
