Greetings everyone.
I have returned to the wonderful world of fish keeping. Things sure have changed from when I first had aquariums. My Drivers license says I am 62 but that must be a mistake. 62 is supposed to be old. I am still 18
So I had tanks in the late '60's and early '70's. Back then no one knew about the nitrogen cycle. So I made a big mistake setting up my first tank. I started with a Fluval Flex 9 gal. Adding fish right away (6 amber tetra and 6 neon tetra.) All the neons died and one of the amber.
I now know about how to cycle a tank. Tank 2 is a Fluval 29 Tall. Took me almost 3 months before I added fish. I ended up redoing the tank set up 3 times on the 29. I have the AMA Amazonia in that tank. On the 3rd redo I added the small beach stone gravel over top of the AMA. Happy with it now.
I only had dark rough gravel in the 9 gal and decided to redo it a couple of weeks ago. Was too dark in that tank and plants were not doing well at all. I used Fluval Stratum with the beach pebbles over top. New plants and now the tank is doing very well.
tank 3 is a 5.5 gal that has a nice Betta. Waited 4 weeks before I added the fish.
Stock in the 9 gal now consists of 3 Nerite snails. 3 SterbaI cory. 5 male guppy and 4 surviving amber tetra
In the 29 gal is 5 Panda cory. 6 Black phantom Tetra. 7 Harlequin Rasbora. 3 nerite snails and 4 siamese algae eater.
the 5.5 has a cute Betta.
Did a small change up in the 29 yesterday. changed up a few of the plants. I liked the Staurogyne Repens I put in the 9 gal so I got same for the 29. Also got some Ludwigia Repens Rubin and Nymphoides hydrophylia Taiwan. Lastly some Cryptocoryne wendtiI green.
some pictures.
