New Fish Jumped Out Of The Tank!

Hello guys and girls!

I’ve just bought myself some new endlers, and after placing them in the tank after adjustment I did a quick head count and I couldn’t find one. So I left it for a bit then had another look still nothing. I got the filter and heater out of the way and had a look through all the plants and he was still nowhere in sight! I just checked behind the tank and I found him on the floor!! So I quickly got a bet and placed him back in the tank and he seems fine after his little adventure! The gap he jumped out of was tiny!! Anyway after looking at him he seems okay, has been swimming around with the rest of them and his back looks a little bent. I’ll keep an eye on him but is there anything I should keep an eye out for specifically? In 4 years I’ve never had a fish jump out of the tank! So I’m a little concerned that I may loose the little guy . Thanks all!

Theres not much to do but wait and see. Hopefully he gets better and lives a happy life! I would recommend to keep an eye on him and look for strange behavior (laying at the bottom, not swimming much, wobbling etc). His back doesn't look bad at all if these are the pics of him after you put him back in the tank.

Thank you he doesn’t seem to bad at the moment and I could just be paranoid that his back is slightly bent. I’ll keep an eye on him! Thanks for the swift reply!

If the fish can survive until now, it means he is going to be ok.

Hey everyone thanks for the reply! Another head count this morning and he’s not come for food I’ve looked around the tank and there is no sign of him! I’ll give him an hour then go look again! I’ll be so sad if he’s died

Add a stress coat product like seachums para gaurd to help him regrow slime coat , "fishy immune system" that was rubbed off as he flopped around, add enough for the hole tank ASAP. Add it every time you add new fish, or handle fish in any way. And Add it to all new water to promote storn slime coat growth.

endlers are notorious jumpers. i've had mine for a couple weeks now and they haven't jumped ship yet, but I really should do more to cover the gaps in my tank as a precaution. you can use something as simple as plastic wrap or tape.
