New Diet (goldfish)

I have two couple month old Comet Goldfish in 20 gallon tank. (Won then at a carnival in early October and Its May) They currently eat Goldfish floating pellets. I'm thinking of switching them to bloodworms and brine shrimp because I heard those were healthier and better than Pellets. However, I don't know how much would be a good amount to feed them or how often I should feed them once I switch them. Ad if I do decide to switch them to that then is there anything else I should add to their diet or would that be healthy enough?

Those are only good for occasionally. Like 1-3 times a week. They should be on a staple diet of goldfish pellets. Other than that, you are way undersized on your tank. These guys can grow up to a foot or more.

Hi. Goldfish are omnivores that like a little more herbivore food than carnivore food.

I feed my goldfish fozen bloodworms, frowzen brineshrimp, frozen and freeze dried daphnia (only for smaller goldfish), freeze dried tubifex, seaweed, boiled fruit and vegetables, algae wafers, boiled egg, flakes and pellets.

A typical week might look like this
Monday- Morning pellets, evening frozen bloodworms
Tuesday- Morning homemade food, evening boiled peas and broccoli
Wednesday- Morning pellets, evening flakes
Monday- Morning algae wafers, evening frozen brineshrimp
Monday- Morning homemade food, evening seaweed
Monday- Morning pellets, evening tubifex
Monday- Morning flakes, boiled peas and carrot

I'm well informed on what size they'll become. When I move into a my permanent house I plan to dig up the backyard to add a pond. About 610 gallons.

I would suggest purchasing sinking pellets instead of floating pellets so that they don't end up gulping air when they are eating. Gulping air when eating floating food can cause buoyancy issues. You could also just soak the floating pellets in tank water until they sink before feeding them to the goldfish.

I feed mine omega one sinking pellets,

my schedule is

Monday : morning=pellets
night = pellets
Tuesday: morning =pellet
night= home made food
Wednesday:morning= pellet
night=pellets
Thursday:morning=pellets
night=home made food
Friday:morning=pellets
night=shrimp brine
sathurday:morning=pellets
night=home made food
sunday=peas

my homemade food has broccolI ,spinach,carrots , bell peppers, squash , green beans , lettuce and little Orange and little garlic and tiny tiny bit of paprika.

on the side tho you've had your goldfish which grow to over a foot long in a 20 gallon for roughly 8 months already?

also you shouldn't just feed them bloodworms or shrimp brine every day. You need a stable diet of pellet goldfish food (sinking is better), it's more so a treat then anything else 1-2 times a week in my opinion but you can definitely give deferent sorts of vegetables actually highly recommended , goldfish love it!!

Oh no. They are about 3-5 inches but nothing that big. I just know that they get that big so when they do I have a solution prepared.
And I hear that goldfish food was bad so I wanted to give them a healthier diet

Here is something that goldfish and koi love to eat, and you can probably get for free, even from a pet store: duckweed. I know a lot of people don't want it in their tank (even though fish love it and it makes a good nitrate sponge), but the goldfish in my 29 gallon loves a nice duckweed salad. When I have too much in my other tanks, I toss it in there for him to eat. His color has improved and he also gets flakes, bottom feeder pellets, and some of the pleco's zucchini. Having the duckweed also keeps him from nibbling on the other plants in the tank (he ate a water wisteria down to bare stems).
