New Betta

Hello,

I impulsively bought a betta while shopping for dog food. My 10 gallon is currently cycling and he’s currently in a bowl (I’m sorry). I’ve been changing the water twice a day (not full change, but the changes are the size of the cup he came in) and temperatures are between 78-80F.

I feed him 4 betta pellets a day and one freeze dried bloodworm in the afternoon. He’s been swimming weird, he VERTICALLY swims downwards very fast. Is he fat? Bloated? Should I fast him?
IMG_4676.jpg I removed the red plant to give him more swimming room. Also, is the stripe he has a stress stripe?

Doesn’t look bloated though I found better luck with once a day feedings. Personally I’d say go ahead and throw him in the 10 gallon. The bowl definitely isn’t cycled and it will be way easier to keep him in good health with a larger water volume.
Edit: Don’t forget the heater

I wish it was easy to stop feeding him. It’s really weird. He swims vertically.

Vertically as in it looks like he is falling? That’s the only odd way I can imagine a fish swimming vertically.
