New Betta! Thank you for your advice!

Hello -

I am new to this forum and new to the hobby. I had no idea how much was involved in being a good fish mom, but thanks to you all, I think I am on the right track.

I am working through cycling the tank for my first ever Betta and think I am making progress. PH 7.4, Ammonia 0, nitrite .25, nitrate 0 (utilizing Prime and water changes) I am doing in fish in cycle thanks to some poor advice I received at the pet shop. I am happy to have found this forum to set me straight before losing my beloved betta, Elton John, aka Bennie. I love him!

This is a photo of my boy. Can anyone tell me what type of betta he is? I think he is a half-moon, but I don’t know. Thanks again,

 

He is pretty! I am personally horrible at tail types. The second pic might be enough for someone to tell. Usually works best at full on flare for sure.

 

Thank you! I am particle and do love him but I think he is pretty cute. He is a very mellow guy but I will see if I can catch him at a full flare. I am a terrible photographer. Lol!

 

Welcome to Fishlore! I know hes a mustard gas coloring.....bad at tails too.

 

Ha I know. I think. Maybe. Halfmoon. It spreads 180 degrees and is round, uh half moon I think. He is very pretty regardless.

Thank you for the welcome and for identifying his color! Glad to know that I am not the only one that has a hard time identifying tails

 

What a pretty betta! If i had endless amount of time and space for fish i would probably own a 100 betta!

Thank you! I know what you mean, Elton is my first betta, but he probably won't be my last! I had no idea that bettas had such great personalities!
