New Betta In The Tank. Got Some Concerns/questions

I've added my new betta fish into my 5 gallon tank. Currently, the tank holds 3 amazon sword plant and 3 boss balls. Its been 2 days since I've introduced to him to the new tank and hes eating fine (I think) but he mostly stays at the bottom of the tank. He does come up to the top time to time but 80% he seems to be hanging at the bottom of the tank.. Is this a sign of something bad?
sad.gif what can I do to make the betta happier. I'm really hoping he starts making those bubble nests because that's a sign of content and happy betta.

Did you cycle the tank before adding him? In your post you mentioned him staying near the bottom of the tank - is he swimming near the lower part of the tank or lying on the bottom?

First of all the bubble nests don't actually mean the betta is happy. It's a common misconception so don't worry but betta always make bubble nests regardless of their happiness. Since it's still pretty early your betta might just be getting used to the tank. Did you cycle the tank? If you did, its probably not your water parameters then.

I've used API quick start. Also, hes just swimming near the lower part of the tank hes not lying on the bottom

As chrish828 mentioned, he could just be getting used to the tank so if he's not showing any other signs of stress, I don't think its a problem. I have used quick start when cycling a tank but found my ammonia and nitrite levels still stayed high so I think it can help cycling but won't cycle your tank immediately.

Until u know exact parameters I recommend performing a 50% water change in case there is ammonia/nitrite toxicity. Since u used a bottled bacteria ur cycling process may be quicker but not instant (as stated above) so u will be doing a fish in cycle. When fish in cycling it is imperative u test parameters daily to keep adequate conditions. I also recommend purchasing Prime by Seachem. Prime not only dechlorinates water it also has the added benefit of detoxifying ammonia, nitrite and nitrate at 1ppm for 24 hours.

If I were to the the water chages, should I be re-adding the quickstart?
