New betta, HELP

So 2 days ago I got a new betta, a male koi. When I brought him home, I floated his cup in the tank and periodically added some of the tanks water into his cup. After an hour, I figured the acclimation process was complete, so I let him swim out.

At first, he stayed in the bottom left half of the tank. He was exploring. He swam around some jungle val, around some rocks, to the surface. Typical fish stuff. The next day he explored the other half. He went towards the filter, around a plant, and to the surface.

Today, he is staying in the top right half of the tank. He rarely goes to the bottom. When he does, it is down to the heater, then to the other corner, and back up to the top. He sleeps on bottom.

He hasn't eaten. Day 3, almost over and no food yet. In the store, he had some poop in his cup, but it was very clean. So obviously he ate recently.

Today I tried something that worked for a past betta. Mosquito larvae. He didn't even bother you go to investigate it.

I also saw that his scales are raised just a little.

He's in a 10 gallon tank. I'm doing 10% water changes every other day because this fish is $20. I don't want to lose him.

The water is 80 degrees fahrenheit.
Nitrate: 0
Nitrite: 0
Hardness: 80 ish
Alkalinity: 80
pH: 7.5
Ammonia: 0

Am I just being too paranoid? He's my first fish that cost more than $8. I have another betta who is perfect. My guppy tank is perfect too.

His plants are jungle val, duck weed, hornwort, some wisteria stems, and a peace lily plant that is temporary (I know it's not aquatic, I just needed a place to put it). I use water conditioner, the light is off after 8 hours. I take out the food I try to make him eat after an hour. Filter is cycled (used an extra cycled cartridge and media)
He's the only fish in the tank.

Forgot my flash was on, oops.

I recommend that you just keep watching him. Everything looks good from what I can see, maybe a better picture? Try to catch what you think is raised scales. I'm actually having a big fit about that right now too. uh,

My betta didn't eat for a week, I was scared but when it ate I was in relief.

If you zoom in on the picture and look at the top of his body, between the dorsal and caudal fin, you see what I mean by raised scales. It's slightly but all of my previous bettas have always been smooth

A couple years ago I upgraded a betta from a 2.5 to a 5 gallon tank and it didn't eat for a week as well. Thought it would die. It eventually ate. Big relief.

This guy though, it's different

Is it a good idea to do 10% water changes daily
