New betta flaring because of temperature?

hello,
I got a new betta a couple of days ago. He is super active (more active then any other betta I had before) and he is flaring a lot. I don't know at who or why he is flaring so much. I know they flair at other males and to impress the female, (or when they are happy?).

He is in a 3 gallon planted tank, no heater or filter. The tank is fully planted. The temperature is about 20°C (68°F) which is too cold for a betta. The tank is in my room and I would prefer to keep it non heater but if it's necessary I would add one.

I don't know why he is flaring could it be temperature related

Get a heater and a filter as soon as you can. Until then, change 50% of the water ever day.

Your filter will need to cycle. There is info on this page about cycling a tank.

That fish won't live long at 68 degrees in an unfiltered tank.

I will get a heater as soon as I can. I won't get a filet for there is no need, the tank is fully cycled and heavily planted and I do water changes about 2 a week.
Update; He started making a bubble nest. I think he might be flaring to himself in the reflection. From what I understand they only make bubble nest when they want to breed and are healthy and happy, am I wrong?

There IS a need for a filter. Also,3 gallons is too small. You need a tank of at least 5 gallons.

I kept bettas in a 3 gallon tank before. In the same tank actually and one lived for 3 years. The current betta seems to be really happy in the new tank, it's very active and has even build a bubble nest. He keeps building and rebuilding them, which means that he is happy and healthy.

The tank is planted with underwater plants as well as an peace lilly. It started as two leaves and it's growing rapidly with its roots covering a huge portion of the tank. The water quality is good and there doesn't seem to be a need for a filter.

Do you test the water? If yes, what do you use? If no, how do you tell that the water quality is good?

Try to cover the outside of the tank with something translucent/opauqe. If I am not wrong, should prevent the reflection.

I test the water using jbl 7 in 1 test strips. I don't have a full test kit at the moment. Don't remember the last reading by heart but they are all in the required range, but it think there is a lack of nutrients in the water column, as some of the plants are dying off. This is because I don't over feed the tank, it's very lightly stocked (a single betta and a few snails) and I used graden soil as a nutrient level.
