New Betta doesn't eat?

Brought home a beautiful new betta on Saturday...and I still have only see him eat one bite of food...Brought him home Saturday and set up in my one gallon bowl as a temporary set up. Offered him 3 pellets he showed no interest...wasn't too concerned maybe he was already fed at the pet store right?

Sunday, offered 3 new pellets, other 3 were on the bottom, he showed no interest, about an hour later I offered a pinch of flakes, maybe he doesn;t know what pellets are. No interest. Changed the water that afternoon and dosed with levamisole.

Monday, changed out water for new water and offered 3 more new pellets, nothing.

Tuesday added him to 5.5 gallon at work split with my other male, offered them each 5 pellets...and he ate one! the rest sank to the bottom no interest

Today, offered another 5 pellets, he followed one around for a minute and then went back to chilling in his plant.

Help? My other one is a total pig...well fed and still I have seen him try to eat his own poo and spit it out and glare at me!

I wouldn't worry

He's still very new and has been moved twice already, so he's still adjusting to his surroundings. Make sure you clean up all of his uneaten food. I wouldn't worry unless it's been more than two weeks. Fish can go a long time without eating. When you feed him, try only 1-2 pellets. Their stomachs are very small and 5 pellets is probably too much food, especially if you feed them every day.

2 weeks!! Ok that's a relief, hopefully he eats by Friday cause he won't get a chance to eat again until Tuesday, I'll clean up the bottom of his side later this morning.

i've heard that some betta love garlic juice and that soaking their food in it can coax picky ones into eating

So the little snob finally ate. He likes freeze dried daphinia apparently. Can they live on just that? I've tried flakes and 3 different brands of pellets and this is the first time he's done more than look at it.

I don't have any special advice to offer as I just got my Bettas. But, one of them wouldn't eat anything besides a couple frozen blood worms for a few days. But, what I would do is every time I fed her a blood worm I would also drop in a pellet of food. Eventually she caught on and she eats the pellets too. So, I guess what I'm saying is may he just needs to be taught that the flakes or pellets are good too.

That seems like a decent idea, I'll give that a try next week, there won't be any food on offer for three days so hopefully when I get back he'll be hungry enough to be less picky!

Ended up getting sick and today was first day back to work. He ate for me this morning so I guess hunger works. I'll bring him a little of the daphinia he likes tomorrow. He seems pretty comfortable in his tank now.
