New Balinese lantern smells chemically!

I just bought a Top Fin fake lantern to help my new catfish hide in. It smelled chemically after I rinsed it off, so I boiled it for a few minutes. Still smells like chemicals, like styrofoam. Can this be safe for my tank???

If it's a strong smell, I would take it back to the store. Wouldn't want to risk hurting the fish!

Topfin has a BAD rep for decor, id remove it asap. Its been anywhere from the paint leaching to chems killing all the tank inhabitants.

I only really know the topfin has bad rep. I use a lot of tetra.
