New baby pacu - I Need Help

Okay, so I have several questions that need answering asap. So I bought a baby red bellied pacu today, a long with a young bichr. They share a home with a slightly bigger convict cichlid in a 44 gallon aquarium. My convict cichlid continues to pester my poor pacu by nipping off little bits of scales. Will my convict ever leave him alone? And also he is very slow. He moves, but he stays close to the gravel and is a little wobbly. Is this due to anxiety, or adjusting to the tank? Or is he possibly sick? I would appreciate a response as soon as possible

Rehome the pacu, your convict will kill him. A 44g is not suitable for your pacu or bichir, bichir need tanks 100g+

Red Belly Pacus need a MUCH larger tank, so do Bichirs. I would return/rehome him asap.

Okay I'm probably gonna get rid of the convict. Would it work out if I just upgraded as they grow larger?

No, Bichirs need around 100 gallons and the Pacu needs at least a 180 at the very minimum.

A pacu can grow to the size of a large garbage can lid. Do you have room for a tank that large?

If I can find a tank that big, I can put it in my room

This is a young 8" Pacu, maybe a third of the size it will grow to.

I doubt you have room for an 8 foot tank

Ok a 250- 350 gallon tank is what your gonna need. You'll be the envy of fishlorians everywhere.

Perhaps turn your room into a tank!

Good advice given... Return those fish. BIG tanks are BIG work.
I wouldn't consider one until I've thought out water changes, tank cleaning,
Power requirements (heating a 250g tank gets pricey)... the list goes on.

Rather than get a tank to fit the fish, perhaps get fish that fit the tank.... though
I do appreciate your 'resolve'!
