Christine surprised me this morning with the urge to get a young female... she was the one that chose Christen, but I ended up taking care of her full time. So she wanted to get herself another young one to grow like we did Christen.
We were browsing through Super Pet, who is having ridiculously good sales right now because PetSmart bought them, and we picked up a Waterhome 3 aquarium, with filter and light in the hood for a mere $14 (full price is $60) and 3 one-pound bags of gravel (2 blue, 1 black) for $0.75 a bag, and a pink and white plant for $5 (which really makes the blue and black stand out, the tank looks absolutely gorgeous.
On our way home, we passed by PetSmart and had a look at their bettas, she was torn between 3 tiny blue specks and after about 15 minutes came to her decision.
When we got home, I fired up the Waterhome 3 and got it running, gave it a dose of NovAqua+, AmQuel+, Vita-Chem, and Cycle (came with my 21 gallon kit) and got things as hospitable as possible for her, acclimated her for over an hour after letting the tank run for about 5 hours and she's now enjoying her new home.
We still need the heater for it, but right now it's been floating around 78 degrees because it's been so warm lately.
I'm really happy that Christine has joined me and my betta parenting. It's going to be nice having 3 tanks in this little home
We still need a name for her though, any thoughts?
