If it happens, test just to make sure its not something more serious, but same thing do nothing and it will settle and balance and clear.
That's good advice. Patience lol.

Aquarium - Day 10

Aquarium - Day 10.jpg
On day 10 the aquarium is pretty clear, there is some blur like you said but I believe that's because I need to clean the glass. I did a test wipe and some white biofilm slid off and floated around the tank. I'll clean it all when the cycle is done and I do a water change before adding fish. Probably going to rearrange a few decorations at that time also.

I bought some supplies today to make a polycarbonate lid but they didn't have the size sheet I needed so I just got the hinge and the knob. I can't seem to find anywhere that has the corrugated polycarbonate, all they seem to have in stock is acrylic or short polycarb sheets.

Test Results - Day 10

Test Results - Day 10.jpg

  • Temperature : 72* F
  • pH : 7.2
  • Ammonia : 0.25 ppm
  • Nitrite : >5.0 ppm
  • Nitrate : ~80 ppm
I am pretty surprised that the ammonia is almost 0 ppm - it was ~2.0 ppm yesterday so they really processed it fast! Nitrite levels are still pretty high but most of the of ammonia was consumed so there shouldn't be much more nitrite generated. I'm just going to wait now and see how long it takes for the nitrite to reach 0 ppm. I'm not really concerned with nitrate right now, probably not the correct reading when nitrite is present right? I may not even test it again until I see nitrite at 0 ppm.

Once ammonia and nitrite are at 0 ppm what then? Add more ammonia and see how long it takes for nitrite levels to reach 0?
