HI all,

I don't even have my 90 gallon fully stocked yet and I am thinking about the next tank.

I have a 65 gallon (36x18x24) that really caught my eye. I would like to do a tank with Angelfish and some rams/dwarf cichlids. Not really interested in the large cichlids.

Wondering if I could get some ideas on how many and what type of Angelfish and Rams/Dwarf Cichlids I could put in and have a compatible stock.

Thanks

Most Angelfish and Dwarf Cichlids will get along. The only that I had a tiny bit of a problem with was with Angels and Kribs because breeding/territory issue, but other than that they were fine. I would say you could try 2 - 4 Angels, and Some Apistos or Rams. Personally I would do some pairs of Angels with German Blue Rams, Golden German Rams, or Bolivian Rams. They always make such a nice combo together. Just a thought though!

So when you say "Angels with German Blue Rams, Golden German Rams, or Bolivian Rams" could you do a pair of a particular angel and pais of multiple rams or is only one ram pair species best like the angels?

Either or could work. I personally would keep either Angels and German Rams (you can do two different colors if you wanted) or Angels with Bolivian Rams. That's just me though

I'm not exactly sure how many pairs of each cichlid you could have though, I have never owned a 65G tank. I would be able to do 1 - 2 Pairs of Angels, and depending on how much room you have on the bottom, 2- 3 pairs of Rams. I personally would probably do 2 pairs of each, then add some dither fish as well.

I was kind of wondering if there would be enough space in there for a single pair of Angelfish and two pair of German Rams ( blue and yellow) along with some Cory's and a few Tetras.

In a 65G, I personally think yes. You could go with Congo Tetra. They are great beautiful Tetra and go great in community tanks. Many Cory species to look at!
