I had to buy a new 2ft tank yesterday....the old one sprung a leak again and i didnt notice as i'd been at the hospital Sat night and still wasnt feeling to well for most of Sun. When i got up it was soon obvious the tank had breathed its last. Unfortunately i lost 2 cories and 2 danios...but managed to get the others into a bucket and hopefully they'll be fine

The new tank is the standard rectangle shape but is higher than the old one. Its half filled with rainwater and half town...so hopefully the PH should be lower...making it less stressful on the new additions that will be picked up in a few weeks.

Needs more plants eventually...and i'm debating changing the substrate to sand...but i would like black and i'm finding it hard to come by.

Tank just after being set up

Today...starting to clear

And then with the new backing sheet

I'm hoping to get 3 more tiger barbs, 3 cory cats and a bristlenose.....i have some driftwood soaking...as soon as its waterlogged that will added as well

Unsure as to what the tank holds as i cant find the tape measure to measure it up *L*

Sorry to hear how your tank went down on you.. bad luck on the timing, huh? I'm glad you were able to save the others. Do you treat your tap water? I'm not sure where to find black sand - perhaps some fish shops in hawaii still have some, but might all be gone by now. Tank looks great, btw.

Thank you...yes it was...but these things happen unfortunately.

I treat my tap water with a chlorine/chloramine/ammonia remover.....

Hopefully once it settles and i get things where and how i want them it should come up looking good

Yeah it wasn't the best experience thats for sure

But you're right the new tank helps ease the bad side....i was going to get a bigger one...but honestly i have no bench space left for anymore critter containers *L*

I like your tank. Setting up a new tank can be stressful enough without it being a 'have to' case with the other one springing a leak!
You must have had a horrible mess! Now you can sit back, and start feeling better I hope.

I'm sorry to hear what happened to your old tank. I think the new one looks pretty neat.

Unfortunately 2 more danios did not pull through the leak mishap....so the tank is looking somewhat depleted. As it settles i'll slowly restock. I've added some more things to the decor so it doesnt look quite so bare

Oh wow! What a beautiful tank. That backdrop makes everything pop! I used to have a 10 g tank when I was younger and upped it to a 20 g tank when in my later teens but after 4 years, I just couldn't take all the work with it. I do better with furry animals, but now I'm breaking myself back in with 2 male bettas atm. Anywho, love the tank!

P.S. I'm sorry to hear about your danios but I can't wait to see what you're going to do next with it.
