New 29g build

Finally, after months of slowly gathering pieces to the puzzle when they would pop up on sale and using hard scape materials I’ve been collecting I got my 29 up and running last night. I’m still not 100% sold on the Seiryu Stone on the right but that can be changed later once I add plants in the next week or two. Equipment I’ve got so far is as follows
-Whisper 40 pump running the sponge filter
-Tetra whisper 60 HOB that I got riders using established foam and bio media
-200w Heater
-Nicrew RGB 24/7 light
-Eco Complete substrate

I’m still undecided on stocking. At first I was thinking a trio of Pearl Gouramis, a 10-15 count school of some sort of tetra and a bristle nose pleco. I’m open to suggestions if anyone has any other stocking ideas! This is the 4th tank in our house so I’m used to maintenance and trouble shooting. It’s going to be planted, but not with much. A few Anubis’s Nana scattered in places and some java fern on wood or rocks

Let me know what you guys think so far!

How often do you do water changes. You can keep BN in 29 gallons, but they have a really heavy biolode. But besides that, the stocking sounds pretty good.

You can have a school of 7 Cory catfish. You can also have a Bolivian ram cichlid. This is just an idea of some fish you can add.

I do 25% weekly water changes on all of my other tanks, or more if it’s necessary. My parameters are always consistent and predictable. I’m used to BN Bio loads , I have 2 in other tanks currently

I’ve never had good luck with corys. I’ve tried almost every species I can get locally , in multiple tank sizes and tank mates and they never do well and I lose them after a month or 2. I’ve thought about Rams or Apistogramma but I’m worried they’re going to be too small of a fish for the look I’m wanting this tank to develop

Shrimp, livebearers, snails, but I'd either drop the BN or get a really strong filter

Tetra whisper 60 HOB that I got riders using established foam and bio media

Although that filter should be good enough
