About a week ago I brought home 3 Nerite snails and 1 Golden Mystery snail. 1 of the nerites went into my betta tank and the remaining 2 nerites & mystery snail went into my community tank. I noticed that the nerites in both tanks have moved very little while the mystery has been zipping all over (OK he is a snail so maybe zipping is the wrong word but he moves around alot). Is that normal for the nerites to be so inactive? Could it just be taking them longer to get used to their new surroundings?
Ammonia is at 0 ppm, nitrites are at 0 ppm and nitrates are at 20 ppm for both tanks.
Temp is 77 in community tank and 80 in the betta tank.
None of the fish seem to be bothering any of the snails, that I have seen anyways. I am feeding the snails algae wafers, veggie wafers, spinach and zucchinI and dropping in pieces of plain Tums for calcium supplement. Not sure if the nerites in the community tank have been eating much but the one in the betta tank seems to be eating some algae off of the rock he is on. Just wanted some input to put my mind at ease or let me know if I need to be doing something differently. Thanks!
