Neons Eating Cory Pellets

My neons keep eating the pellets for the cories and I don’t know how to get them to stop. They get fed flakes or micro pellets first to distract them then I drop the sinking cory pellets or wafers at the other end of the 45 gallon but the neons still go over and eat the pellets after they ate their food. I have to put extra pellets to make sure the cories get enough to eat but my neons are overeating I would assume. Aside from my betta in another tank I don’t have problems in the other 8 tanks. I tried dropping the pellets at lights out but I spied on them and the neons still pig out.

 

I would try to use a PVC pipe to protect the food from the middle water column. The food will go to the bottom and IME, tetras won't eat it.

Most of my tetras don't eat off of the bottom.

Try using the PVC technique when the tetras are "asleep".(About an hour after you turn off the lights.)

 

I have the same problem with my giant danios. You'd be surprised how good they are at getting to them no matter where I try to put them.

 

My tetras and guppies pig out on algae wafers for the pleco. I find that if you break it up into 4 pieces and scatter them round the tank, the pleco SOMETIMES gets a bit.

 

Livebearers are really known to hog bottom sinking foods.

 

Thank you. Do I just feed more so I know the cories get enough? This might be a stupid question but do fish know when to stop eating or do they continue to pig out and get fat. Should I keep them in a tank without cories?
