I have a tank with some neon tetras and some platys. I’m wondering what ph my tank should be? Will the neons die if the water is too hard? My ph now is around 8.2 but I have some ph down that I can use

Ok thank you! They seem to be doing fine as of now.

Fish can adjust to almost any ph, so you should be just fine. I keep a betta in a tank with a ph of 8.2 when everyone has been telling me they should have a ph of 6.0-7.0. Ha ha.

Ok thank you! I also have a question about water hardness. In my tank with my neons and platys what should my hardness be? I know they are both on different ends of the spectrum so I don’t know. If the water is hard will the neons live a sad life? I really love my neons and want to keep them, but if this is going to be a huge problem I could take them back to the store.

2 to 10 degrees of dH is best for them, but I think they will be fine.
