Neon tetra with tail fungus

I have a Neon Tetra I found on the surface on his side with some kind of clear or white fungus covering the whole tail region. The tetra can no longer swim very well but is still alive. I moved the fish from my tank to a separate container. Would API Pimafix help with this? I had a Rummy Nose Tetra about a month ago with a thick white hairy fungus on the side and this tetra unfortunately did not make it after moving to another container. I am not sure if it is the same fungus. None of my other fish seem effected. Thanks.

Is there anyway to post a picture of your fish that are affected?

Thanks, look up pictures of columnaris and see if that's possible. I just had to treat my fish with it.

Yeah I saw it now sorry about that. It looks like possible columnaris. It's a bacteria even though it looks like a fungus but it has that furry look. I compared it on my fish to mold. If it is I used kanaplex. I had to order it bit it worked great! You have to treat for a few days and keep your light on your hood off to keep the bacteria from growing and it helps the medicine to work better. You'll also want to make sure all your fish will be okay with the medication because some (especially snails) are intolerant. Also look up photos and make sure that's what you think it is but that's what it looks like to me. I hope that helps!

Thanks. I am looking at some pictures of columnaris to see if it matches with what my fish has. It is hard to tell for sure. I see Amazon sells Kanaplex but it may take a day or two for arrival and I am not sure if my fish will survive that long. I separated the fish from the rest in a separate container.

Yeah I know. Fish illness is so hard to tell. It hit my guppies first and there was no white anything their tails were being completely eaten away in hours. Then I noticed after their tails were gone there was a white fuzzy stuff on the base spreading. When I cleaned my filter it was full of that white stuff and that's columnaris. Your fish may have something else I'm just giving what I think. Please keep us updated. I'd love to know how they're doing.

Sadly, my little Neon Tetra passed away. So far, all my other fish look very healthy nearest I can tell. I did order the Kanaplex in case there is a mass outbreak. So far my pre-filters appear to be clear of white stuff and I will check my filters again as well. Thanks and I will keep this thread updated if my other fish show signs of illness.
