Neon Tetra vs. Cardinal Tetra (life span and sensitivity)

Vash

So from several sources I saw, they all claim Neon Tetra can live longer.
Some say Neon Tetra can live up to 10 years.
While Cardinal Tetra is labeled with 2~5 years.

So the question is, how long do they typically live in a home aquarium?

There is also the question of which one is easier to take care of?
There are conflict information about this one out there.

I hear that neons are "picky" about their water... and they get ill FAST(first hand exp in that) also cardinals are all color, neons have a white/clear patch.

cardinals are easier to take care of.

I've found neons to be much hardier than cardinals. I've tried cardinals a couple of times and have only 1 to show for it.

lol Vash, looks like as with most things in fish keeping you'll get several differing opinions.
That doesn't make one anymore right than the other.
Looks like you'll have to decide for yourself.

I didn't have much luck with neons. I've had my Cardinals for over a year.

I can't say from experience, because I've never had either one, but I've always heard that Neons are hardier and easier to care for than Cardinals.

I have both in my 55 gal. I think if you find good stock and have a well established tank they are equal for care. Neons seem to be more available but are often in the worse stores....take care when buying...only active, bright looking fish. Acclimate slowly.
