Neon Safe Ick Treatment

Hello, my newest batch of neons and rummies has ick, I've read they're sensitive so does anyone have a fav ick med they've used successfully on neons and otos ? No heat or salt, just looking for safe meds. Tank has plants and snails though i can remove them if its not plant safe. Thank you! Rummies seem ok in the polyguard I had on hand but I'm weary of treating a whole tank of neons with something.

I have no advice as I never treat ick with medication due to having a lot of snails. I just wanted to make sure you read the labels thoroughly to make sure they're invert safe. Most have copper which will kill any shrimp, snails, crabs, etc.

Yea thank you, the snails on quarantine tank are mostly just pest snails thoigh I take out what mts I can if I need to treat with something, mostly just worried for the fish. It's mild atm but slowly speading. One of the stores tank had an putbreak but the rest were supposed to be clean, not so xD the rummies have 3 spots or so and just saw one on the gold neons today.

Is there a reason you're against using heat? Sometime meds can be very stressful on fish regardless of how safe of one you find.

You can try feeding foods with garlic, that sometimes will help. Generally its used to help keep it away versus treat but it may help some. There's a really good frozen gel food, its called Formula 2. Its really expensive to ship frozen food so this link is more to show you what the packaging looks like and it's best to check your LFS

Their heater doesn't go past 78 in that tank. They eat a mix of frozen foods and new life spectrum mini pellets with garlic. The plants won't be a fan of the salt or otos. I got a batch of otos neons and rummies in quarantine together but the rummies went into a new quarantine when I saw spots but now I just want something to trwat the whole tank. My polyguard i have on hand has malachite green for ick but its a combo med and harsher.

Yes 100% small salt specks, go away in a day or so comes back 3x more. The store was treating for ick when I purchased them as well, they were supposed to be clean because they used individual tanks not shared water but the rummies got peppered with spots a day later now i see them popping up one by one on the gold neons they were qted with before I pulled them so I assume the otos have it too now. I'm just gonna try ich x watch them and hope for the best I guess. The ones without spots are flashing so don't want it spreading more. I've other things in my main tank that had a white spot but wasn't ick before, ick the spots multiply. My other tank I had a fish with a white spot on the tail that never increased or left that spot would just appear then disappear in the same spot. Stopped seeing it after several rounds of dewormer whatever it was.

I have used “ blue planet “ white spot remedy many times . I use it at a full strength dose always regardless of fry ,tetras, shrimp, snails or corydoras.
We have a heat resistant strain of ich in Australia so raising temperature does nothing. In fact 30 degrees centigrade is a normal summertime minimum temperature at night.
Yes I follow the instructions in regards to the volume for a full strength dose and washing my hands.

The active ingredients are.

0.37mg/ml Formaldehyde
