Hello, I was just wondering if someone would like to give me a list of things that you need to start an aquarium. Thank you

    Well, that basic things, are:

A filter apppriorate for your stocking and tank size
A heater, also dependent on your tank size
Substrate (sand or gravel), there are pros and cons of each
Prime - which takes chlorine and other metals out of tap water
    Fish food
Water testing kit - to test the amount of ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate and pH

I'm sure I'm missing somethings, but those are the basics, assuming you have a tank & stand & hood/light.

I agree with the above from revelations.

Also if you plan on doing real plants you need a light that will grow them, as well as fertilizer. That all depends on the type of plants you get.

Another thing I like is a quarantine tank so disease does not get spread to the main tank. You put fish in for about four weeks to see if they have any diseases, then acclimate to main tank.

A gravel vacuum or siphon is handy for cleaning.

substrate that matches what fish you get. Some fish like smooth fine sand like cory cats.

Obviously buy a tank that is large enough for the fish you want now instead of having to upgrade later, and really do your research on what size tank each fish needs.
