Need some help with the right filter for fancy goldfish

Hiya, I am upgrading my tank set-up to either 75g or 90g and need some advice on what filter is best. I know a lot use canisters but I am a bit uneasy on the use and care- do these filters reduce the amount of water changes and vacs you do? Do I need CO2 for the tank too if I use a canister and have a few plants? Canister strength of flow also worries me for goldfish.

HOB - aren't these messy and possibly too strong for goldfish?

Can I still use a sponge in the tank with another filter to reserve more BB?

Any links to read and learn appreciated

thanks!

I have a canister in my 55g. It's easy enough to set up and clean. You don't need to run C02. You can run airstones if you want for more oxygen.

Is the flow strong on these or adjustable? I am hearing goldfish don't like current..

A good sponge filter is fine alone IMO. It provides oxygen and adequate filtration unless you horrendously overstock or something.
