We can not get our tank to be clear. It keeps getting a tint color to it. We have been doing water changes. Even using gallons of spring water not tap water. Any suggestions???

do you have any driftwood in the tank?

what kind of colour tint is it?

Also, what are your water parameters? I notice you are using test strips - these are widely inaccurate. I highly recommend purchasing an API master test kit - worth its weight in gold!

Do you happen to have any driftwood in your tank?

It might not be the source water. Is there anything in your tank that isn't listed in your aquarium info (such as driftwood)? What kind of substrate are you using? How long have you had this problem (compared to how long the tank has been set up)?

Also, it could be a bacterial bloom, from a new tank set up.

What stage of the nitrogen cycle are you at? I strongly suggest reading up on the cycle if you haven't already (click the blue underlined words). This could be the source of your problem...

NO we do not have any drift wood in the tank. should we?? the color looks like a light brown tint. Yes we do have the test strips. Ill have to go look for the kit you recommended. Ill check Petsmart and That Fish Place. It has been getting cloudy for about 2 weeks now. We are gonna do another water change again in a day or 2 and see if it helps at all.

No, you don't need to add driftwood. Everyone asked because driftwood leaches tannins that discolor the water the way you described. Do you have adequate filtration? When was the last time you changed your filter cartridge?
