Need some advice on some blue gourami

Okay, so I have 3 blue gourami and 1 opaline and more recently 2 of the male blue Gourami have begun fighting. I do know that you shouldn't have that many males in the same tank, but the fish store made that mistake. I do have a separate 10 Gallon tank and I know ideally you should give them at least 20 gallons. So my question is, would he be alright in the 10 gallon temporarily until I can get something bigger?

Not sure what tank you have them in now but you can't keep 4 three-spots (the species that blue and opaline are colour variations of) in a 20 gallon either. Especially not with more than one male. They can be quite aggressive and are known to kill or stress each other to death on occasion. Keep a single or pair (if you know they are well matched) in a 29 or 30, or get a 40 or larger if you want to keep a community.
Opinions vary but a 20 gallon tall is too small even for a single three-spot. They can get pretty large and are semi-aggressive fish. A 20 long, being of the same length as a 29, should allow the same options as a 29.

You can keep a singular three-spot in a 10 gallon for a very short time but if it is fully grown, no more than a few days. If juvenile and half its adult size or so it will be fine for a longer time.

(Edit: a short google search will tell you that this stocking is a bad idea. I understand totally that as a new fishkeeper, you assume that a store will give you good advice. Unfortunately as you've learnt, they don't. Do make sure to do your own research next time before bringing fish home. It will save you a lot of frustration )

I currently have them in a 37 Gallon tank, the other 2 are female. When I bought them I only wanted 1 male but they ended up giving me 2. The male being bullied is much smaller than the other so I am assuming he would be okay then in the 10 gallon at least for the time being.

Aaaah, I see. Sorry, I read the first post to mean you wanted to upgrade them all to a 20 so I thought you were keeping them in a 10 or 15 originally. My bad.

Yes, sounds like a game plan!

It's probably best to separate him and keep him temporarily in the 10. Then either sort out a larger tank to keep a large group of them or to keep him by himself. Alternatively you could rehome him and maybe add another female which is risky because you don't know how the other male or the other girls will react to a newcomer.

Lovely fish but safest to stick to a single one in my opinion (for an easy life and owner satisfaction!).
