Need Plant Recommendations...foreground/midground

I am looking for recommendations for good low-tech plants for the foreground/midground, things that provide good cover for smaller fish but don't get too big. In particular, any "grass" like plants that stay shorter? What about easier carpet plants suitable for this environment?

Not 'grass like,' but a short plant with small leaves that can be trimmed into a carpet is Staurogyne Repens. Of the four plants I've put in my nano tank (along with Anubias Nana Petite, Dwarf Sagitaria Subulata, and Java Fern) this one has outpaced all the others in growth. It's also easy to find. I got mine at PetCo.

Here's a video on how to grow a 'carpet' of it-
