Need light for tank with canopy

HI, I have a 55 gal. with a canopy and need an LED light that will sit on top of the glass or above where I can remove my canopy for WC's. The lights that have brackets that go on the tank would interfere with the canopy, correct? Does anyone have one with a canopy? I have a bare bottom tank with a couple java moss and one sword. I would like to get 1 or 2 Anubis for my live rock. So I think that is a low-light, is that right? I do not want to inject and I don't really fertilize on a reg. basis. The plants have gone a week with my old 40 gal. light, so they are getting drab. I am going tomorrow to get my lids and a light. So any suggestions tonight would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like you have a 3’ light on it now. So for under $50 you could get a vivagrow 24/7 that will give you plenty of light for your plants.

Your looking for a 48" light correct? The legs shouldn't intefere with your canopy much if at all. And if they do you could put your canopy upside down on your table and the light inside it and maybe make a couple small notches where the legs sit and it'll fit no problem and the canopy will most likely hold any little notch or score you make in your canopy.

That is the light I had on my 40 gal. I am going to get rid of that with the tank and lid. It's not the height, but the sides at the 48" mark where the light attaches to the tank sides. Would there be enough room for the canopy on the ends? I have about 1/4 on each side to play with.

Do these lights have a jack style plug into the strip it's-self? So it can be unplugged at the strip not the outlet?
That's a good idea putting the notches in--as long as I line it up. lol

Depending on exactly what light you decide on will determine if the light will intefere with the canopy but most legs for lights are pretty low profile so I think you will be fine. And like I said if you do have to do a little notch just put the canopy upside down keeping in mind which side is the front and center the light as best you can or measure front to back. I don't think it'll intefer with the outside finish at all no matter what light you go with.

My tank came with the standard canopy light. I added three strip lights and just let them sit directly on the glass. One is a 9 watt led under cabinet light. Two are cheap 'grow light' strips (completely ineffectual unless they are two inches from your flower seedlings!). They're cheap lights and I just pick them up or slide them out of the way when needed. Plus, they're flat on the lid, so I don't really see them. The grow lights add an entirely different hue. Not at all purple like the pic.
