Need info on Duckweed.

Just got some duckweed to float in my tank. Anyone have ANY info on its care or propagation? How fast does it reproduce? Does it need anything special? I'm guessing it's kinda easy to grow since my LFS has had it for a while and they kill most plants within a couple months of keeping em but the duckweed has been living in there for years. Any info would be helpful.

I just recently got duckweed 2 weeks ago and they grow very fast I do nothing but let them float. I am new to this plant but have had no issues with it and no algae in my tank I have floating water lettuce too very nice like the long stems from underneath

Yeah, I like the hanging roots too. But my shrimp REALLY love it. They hang upside down from the roots and follow the current in my tank. Looks like a shrimp merry-go-round.

Duckweed is neat looking but in my experience with it, grows out of control quickly. It takes very little to sustain these plants - make sure your intakes have a prefilter on it or it will clog up your filter.

Everything except otocinclus catfish will eat the babies IMO. But adults will be safe as long as they're big enough not to fit in the fishes mouth. I keep a group of tetras in with mine to control the population.

To keep duckweed just add water. I hope you like it, it is dang near impossible to get rid if it without tearing down the tank and sterilizing it.

DUCKWEED IS FROM THE DARK SIDE

Its quackers to say that Duckweed is difficult to remove from the aquarium.

The solution is in the name.
