    Hey everyone!
I have a 20 gal tank with 10 small fish in it, we have done many water changes and for a year it was fine, we have filter, light, all the equipment but now even when we change the water and it’s crystal clear, the tank gives off a nasty smell we’ve tried different products and nothing works.
    Need some help!

    What does it smell like?

    What is it stocked with?
    Ammonia?
    Nitrite?
    Nitrate?

I can’t really put my finger on the smell, it just smells like unclean, maybe fishy!
We have 3 goldfish, 2 tetras, Cory catfish, 4 tetras and a snail!

You have stocking issues if you would like to talk about it.

So to many fish? That’s why it smells?

    It's most likely ammonia.

Take out the goldfish ASAP. They are the main reason and they are probably stunted(Unless they are the fancy variety).

Your profile says that you don't know about the nitrogen cycle. You will need to learn about that before getting fish.

Get a liquid test kit or go to your LFS and ask if they can test your water.
