need help with a cichlid tank canister filter

    Welcome to the forum

    Sponge and biomax is good. I usually have to buy more biomax to fill up a filter. If you want to use carbon, you can put that in the top tray. Or if you want to use a polishing pad or any other super fine media, throw that on top as well.

    how should i layer it biomax/prefilter on the top and polishing pad in the middle or pad in middle and pre/biomax on top ?or stick with what im doing now biomax foam bottom and nothing but prefilter and bimax in the top 2 trays ?

    Only put the polishing pad on top of the last tray. The finest media should be the last the water passes through, or it will quickly get clogged.

    anyone have know of any good cheaper canister filters for a 65 gallon cichlid tank?
