Hi, I've been battling columnaris for the last 3 weeks which almost wiped out my young guppy and fry stock until about 6 days ago when I started maracyn 1 and 2 treatment, salt and seachem stress guard. The affected frys are in a hospital tank and doing very well actually. Out of about 15 frys only 2-3 have torn tail which is healing well, the rest don't have any signs or symptoms of illness.

My question is, when can I put them back into their planted 2 foot tank home? I have read though that maracyn 2 may work at first but is usually followed by a larger more resistant outbreak shortly after treatment has ended so should I wait another week or do a 100% water change and start another treatment of tri-sulfa or aquari-cycline? My 2 foot tank was infected with columnaris last week as well but treated it with maracyn 1, 2 and water treatment for bacteria for 3 days. The remaining frys show no symptoms of columnaris. Thanks!

I lost 2 separate sororities due to this nasty disease. Only affected my betta's. I had 2 day old platy fry after the second attack and they were fine

From my experience, platies are hardy and don't seem to be affected by what ever the other fish come down with. I've lost 0 platy and around 60 young guppies. This is my first deal with columnaris and unfortunately I had a pretty bad strain of the disease/bacteria.

To be honest, because of how contagious columnaris is, and the fact that now the fry would be stressed moving into another tank, I'd leave them for at least another 2 weeks, if not longer, in the QT.

]Cool. Thanks for the reply. I'll do just that.
