hello all I have a 29 gallon planted community tank with 1 koi angel and 7 neon rainbows, 7 harleyquinn rasboras and it seems I am having trouble with my Koi angel he seems too be picking on all my small fish mainly the rainbows like he will chase them from one side too the other and at one point it looked like he had intent on eating them this could be why my smaller fish hide a lot all my parameters are great 0 0 10 ph 6.8 temp a solid 82 so its not my water I'm debating if I should get rid of him I do have a slight attachment too him cause I got him when he was 1" in size now hes almost 7 is he going too only get worse as he gets older? and would it be wise too perhaps get another? he seems too do this nearly everyday as hes gotten bigger any advise would be great

You'll find that different angels have different temperaments and yours appears to be one of the more aggressive ones. Fish will also eat other fish small enough to fit their mouths so if your schooling fish are on the small size, your angel could be seeing them as a meal, hence the chasing like you said. I don't think the chasing will go away on it's own and may even get worse but only time will tell.
If you're set on keeping all of your fish, I would at least make sure your tank is heavily planted with lots of places to hide and break the line of sight so your schooling fish aren't always in sight of your angelfish.
I can see why you are reluctant to give him up though, I would be rather attached too.
I would not get another angel though, chances are he will bully the other angel and 29 gallon is the acceptable minimum for one angel only, especially since yours is large.

Unrelated to your question but helpful for your future posts: it's kinda hard to read posts that don't have punctuation or line breaks. Posts that look like one GIANT sentence are usually skipped over so it may be helpful to others to include line breaks and punctuation where they are needed. I would hate for your posts to get skipped over for something so easily fixed.

Definitely do not get another!!

I think what is going on here is your angel has gotten very large and he is very cramped. A 29 gallon is pretty small for an adult angelfish and he is competing with 14 other fish for space.

If you want to keep the angelfish, I would recommend getting rid of the rainbows. The angel might be ok sharking the space with one school, but sharing a 29 gallon with 2 schools is asking too much of him. I am not surprised he is getting cranky with all of them. :-(

thank you for the help and yes it appears too be a predatory kind of chase he would go side ways like he is trying too gain speed too catch them and my tank is heavily planted

my 2 schooling fish love seeing me go near the tank as well as the angelfish idk if its jealousy or not but he might have too go just because theyre would be no way for me to get rid of the rainbows without uprooting my whole tank

and I'm super attached to all my fish I had the rainbows when they were half a inch now they are 2 the harley rasboras as had no color they were tiny now they are theyre mature color

its a shame and makes me sad to get rid of fish ive had so long but this angel is making it seem like he is the only one in there

You may be able to keep all the fish if you are able to upgrade the size of your tank and give everyone more room, but even then there's no guarantee that this will ease the aggression issues. I am sorry you are facing rehoming some of your fish; it is a tough choice but often necessary to keep the peace.

I have successfully kept more aggressive angels with other fish (such as neons) in the past by heavily planting about 1/3 (up to 1/2 if the tank is big enough) of the tank with taller plants and cover everywhere else in foreground and low midground plants. The angel still needs room to swim so you can't do tall plants everywhere. In a 29 I'd do 1/3 of the tank if that is an option you are considering. Anymore tall plants than that and you won't leave your angel with enough room.

But Bizaliz3 is right. That is too many fish for a 29g. If it were a pair of angelfish and nothing else that would be fine but they are still cichlids and, if cramped, are plenty large enough to throw around their weight. Sorry you are facing rehoming any of them... you can always use this as an excuse for a new tank

well I got rid of the angelfish it wasn't an easy because I have had him since he was the size of a nickle and it was a hard task I had too replant some of my older plants too catch him since my tank essentially is heavily planted and he was very smart.

I tried the feed and catch method but he knew right away I have that trouble with my uncles african Chiclid tank they see the net everyone is gone but thank you for the advise everyone I'm probably just gonna up the Nen rainbows from 8 to 10 and the Harleyquinn Rasboras from 8 too 10

and also my fish are super afraid of me lately since doing all that work too catch the angelfish like they run and hide when they see me is that normal and will go away in a few days?

Yes, your other fish will get over it I have the same issue of heavily planted tanks... Some of my fish I may not see for a few days.
