Need Algae help

I have a 20 gallon tank with hornwort, Java moss and 3 Java ferns in tank. Although one Java fern is turning brown and not doing as well. It also has 10 harlequin rasboras, 10 Pygmy cories, and 2 thick lip gourami. The tank has staghorn and green thread algae.I managed to get rid of a lot of this algae by reducing my light to 6 hours, dosing excel and then not trimming the plants. Also for fertilizer I use seachem flourish, I dose it twice a week and use 1.5 milliliters each dose. I know tanks are supposed to have a little algae in them but is there anyway I can further reduce the algae?

Algae is hard to deal with. Some ottos could help. I will also tell you that hortwort is super fast growing and recommended for large tanks. It is also known to emit a chemical that can stunt/kill other plants.

My tank is about as stocked as it can get. I have bladder snails in the tank and the only thing I could really do would be some amano shrimp. The hornwort does not bother any of my plants and the browning Java fern is opposite in the tank from the hornwort.

Hey! I have a couple questions so I can best help you solve the algae issue:

1) How long has the tank been set up?
2) What light and filtration do you run?
3) What is your water change schedule?
4) What is your substrate?

The guarmie need to be moved out. It seams a tiny bit over stalked especially with the little nails in there. You shouldn't be having to do a 50%, 25% sounds good with the guarmies out. How long is your light on a day? 8 hours should be sufficient!!

I don’t have to do 50%, I only really have to do about 35% but I do 50% when I’m dosing excel.
