Need Adf African Dwarf Frog Advice

I currently have a 10 gallon with 3 ADFs and 1 female betta. They're doing well and growing. I have Eco Complete for substrate, but I don't know if it's best for them. Love these little guys. It's hard to imagine anything more fun to watch. They make me smile all day long.

I'm setting up a 15 gallon ADF exclusive tank next to a chair in my bedroom and am just at the beginning, so I'm asking for advice.
Is there a best substrate for ADFs that is comfortable for them? They have delicate skin- is Eco complete ok for them or too rough?
How many can I keep in a 15 g planted tank with a canister filter?
Would it be a good idea to have a UV filter for them to prevent disease?
Redshark1 maybe you can weigh in on this

HI Lovecich
I'm not a pro,I've just kept them for several years.

I use pea gravel. It's smooth, rounded and not big enough to fit in their mouths. When I first started researching I'd been advised not to use sand since it's easy for them to get a mouthful when they eat but many people do use it. I can't comment on eco-complete. I'm not familiar with it. Same with UV filter, I don't have experience with it.

Sorry, not much help here.

Good luck with your froggy friends, they are such fun!

Agree with Lucy pea gravel is a good choice, imo.
But I’ve also seen a thread where an adf got a gravel pellet stuck in mouth/throat, and it didn’t work out well. So I think there is (small) risk no matter which way you go.
Personally, if this will be adf only setup, I’d go with a larger pebble size, about the size of a frozen pea. Roundness is important, no sharp edges. And I’d keep the substrate layer very thin, barely enough to cover the floor. Unless you’ll be planting it.

For my adf Sushi, I use very fine sand. He eats on a ceramic dish so I don't have any issues with him eating it. That's just my experience though

I used to have gravel for him, but he got a piece stuck in his throat after swiming down from the surface. If you do choose gravel make sure its very large grains!

We have the multi-color neon looking gravel in my daughters tank - Nov. 2019 only 1 ADF so far so good. They are not exactly round but are larger?

Getting another 3 this time with sand. Hope all goes well with them too. Will try planting here. I know sand not best, but will try. Good luck. They ARE absolutely adorable. The whole house is in love w them here! (Even dad I think.)
