Is hangon filter enough for a 10 gallon tank? My tetras tend to jump sometimes, so want to use the hangon filter for a few hours daily!! Is that okay? I have a plantex aquarium with tetars and roseline sharks and blue rams!
Help please!!
Thanks.

Welcome to FishLore!

By hang on filter, do you mean a filter that hangs outside the tank on the back? If so, so long as it is powerful enough for your tank, it would be fine. You want to get a filter that can pump at least 100 gallons per hours. But you will want to leave this filter on and running 24/7. Since the bacteria that keeps your tank cycled all lives in the filter media, if your not pushing tank water thru it, your not converting the ammonia into nitrite and the nitrite into nitrates.

HOB filters come in many different types of shapes and sizes, and make sure what you buy fits your tank as well as filters it 24/7. if you have to unplug your filter for maintenance and to clean you filter, that is okay. Unless you unplug all the time your filter for most of the day, then you will have to do more frequent water changes and your tank will be harder to keep clean and harder to maintain.
