Need a cover for my fish tank

I was given a 29 gallon some time last year. As time has gone on I've upgraded from just the standard start kit. The lightning is now a dual T8HO 48w lamp. I've kept the top open, but maybe once every few months I'll find a fish that has jumped out. Obviously, I want to stop this. Lowering the water level isn't an option since I use a 350B Penguin Biowheel for my filter, and the cascading water would be way too loud for the living room setting. Anyways, my problem is how my lights are mounted onto my tank.

I can't just buy a 30" glass top for my tank because the light brackets would be in the way (I assume?). Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to cover the tank, but still be able to have my lights mounted on the tank as they are now?

You could still get a glass top, remove the brackets and lay the light directly on the glass? I've seen posts where members have done this.

I would get a glass top. Here's a link: They make good tops.

I do as el337 suggested. You can remove the brackets and lay the light on the glass - it won't hurt either of them.

The best solution is typically the easiest fix. I'll just rest the light on the glass. Duh! Thanks everyone
