What’s the difference? Other than money involved. Is there any pro and con of fastening the cycle with the bottle that is buyable at the pet store?

Most bottled bacteria are different species (heterotrophic bacteria) that will only buy time for the natural ones (autotrophic bacteria) to colonize your filter.

Some bottled bacteria do help though, and really the only difference between using these and cycling your tank without them is the length of time it takes.

Personally, I love Seachem's Stability. It has established both of my 60 gallonand 20 gallon fairly quickly. And I have heard that Stability has hardy bacteria so they do not die off as easily as others. I have tried ATM Colony, never worked for me. Tried it twice, was a waste of money.
